Perinatal and Postpartum Therapy

Mental health support for pregnancy, postpartum depression, birth trauma, and the transition into motherhood. Motherhood Is Beautiful and It Can Also Be Hard The journey into motherhood changes everything: your body, your relationships, your sense of identity, and sometimes your mental health. Perinatal mood disorders affect many birthing individuals, yet they are still widely underrecognized and undertreated, particularly within Black and racialized communities. At GodlyCounsel, our work in perinatal and maternal mental health is grounded in clinical expertise and research. Our founder completed a doctoral dissertation focused on postpartum mental health in Black and racialized women, examining how racism, social integration, and stigmatization affect maternal wellbeing. This research directly informs how we care for our clients.

elements 70 psychology mental health line icons MYM9N9G 2Conditions We Treat:

We support clients experiencing postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, birth trauma, PTSD following childbirth, perinatal grief, pregnancy loss, miscarriage, stillbirth, maternal identity shifts, loss of pre-motherhood self, relationship strain after the arrival of a baby, prenatal depression and anxiety, infant feeding distress, bonding or attachment concerns, and fear of childbirth.

elements 70 psychology mental health line icons MYM9N9G 2Our Approach:

We offer compassionate, stabilizing, and practical support during one of the most vulnerable seasons of your life. We understand how culture, faith, race, and social context shape the perinatal experience, and we hold all of that with care. You are not a bad mother for struggling. You are a human being in need of support, and that is exactly what we are here to provide. Reach out today. Support is available, and you do not have to navigate this alone.

Women's Mental Health Therapy

Therapy for stress, burnout, identity, life transitions, and emotional wellbeing for women across Ontario. Support for the Weight You Carry Women are often expected to manage everything, hold space for everyone, and still show up with grace. The invisible labour of caregiving, professional demands, relational responsibilities, and societal expectations can quietly erode your sense of self. You deserve a space where none of that has to be performed or explained. Our Women's Mental Health service is designed for women navigating the complexities of modern life and who are ready to reconnect with themselves.

elements 70 psychology mental health line icons MYM9N9G 2What We Support:

We support women experiencing burnout from professional and caregiving demands, anxiety, chronic worry, depression, emotional fatigue, body image concerns, disordered eating, identity shifts, life transitions, relationship stress, boundary difficulties, grief and loss, menopause and hormonal transitions affecting mental health, low self-worth, imposter syndrome, racial and cultural identity concerns as women of colour, and spiritual or faith concerns specific to women.

elements 70 psychology mental health line icons MYM9N9G 2Our Work Together:

Therapy with us centres reconnection. We help you identify and name what you are experiencing, rebuild boundaries, move through emotional overwhelm, and find language for needs that have gone unmet. Our approach is warm, culturally affirming, and clinically sound. You deserve care that centres you. Reach out today to get started.

Individual Psychotherapy

Therapy for anxiety, depression, grief, burnout, life transitions, and trauma-related concerns. Psychotherapy services are available across Ontario. You Don't Have to Manage Everything Alone There are seasons when life's demands exceed our internal resources. You may be showing up every day, meeting expectations, and holding things together outwardly, while quietly feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or depleted. That gap between how you appear and how you feel is exactly where therapy begins. Individual psychotherapy at GodlyCounsel offers a confidential, culturally affirming space for you to slow down, be honest, and work through what you have been carrying.

elements 70 psychology mental health line icons MYM9N9G 2Conditions and Concerns We Address:

We support concerns such as generalized anxiety, worry, overthinking, depression, low mood, loss of motivation, panic attacks, grief and bereavement, PTSD and trauma responses, burnout, chronic stress, life transitions, low self-esteem, identity struggles, emotional dysregulation, insomnia and sleep difficulties related to stress or mental health, adjustment disorders, and faith or spiritual concerns.

elements 70 psychology mental health line icons MYM9N9G 2Our Approach:

We draw from evidence-based frameworks including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), DBT, ACT, EFT, IFS, IPT, trauma-informed practice, narrative therapy, and faith-integrated modalities. Every treatment plan is tailored to your unique background, values, and goals. You are not a diagnosis. You are a whole person, and your care reflects that. Book a free 15-minute consultation and take the first step toward clarity, relief, and emotional wellbeing.

Couples Therapy

Therapy for communication, conflict, intimacy, trust, and relationship health for couples across Ontario. Every Relationship Has Seasons Even deeply committed couples encounter seasons of disconnection, unresolved conflict, or communication breakdown. The presence of difficulty in a relationship is not evidence of failure. It is often an invitation to grow, understand each other more deeply, and build something stronger. Couples therapy at GodlyCounsel creates a safe, structured space where both partners can be heard, understood, and supported in working toward relational health.

elements 70 psychology mental health line icons MYM9N9G 2What Brings Couples to Therapy:

Couples may come to therapy for communication difficulties, recurring conflict, emotional distance, disconnection, infidelity and rebuilding trust, intimacy or sexual concerns, major life transitions such as parenthood, loss, or relocation, differences in values, faith, or cultural expectations, parenting disagreements, grief affecting the relationship, pre-marital counselling, blended family dynamics, immigration or settlement-related relationship stress, or concerns about separation or divorce.

elements 70 psychology mental health line icons MYM9N9G 2Our Approach:

We work with couples using evidence-informed relational frameworks, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) principles, culturally responsive practice, and faith-integrated approaches for couples for whom spirituality is central to their relationship. Our goal is not to take sides but to help both partners understand themselves and each other more fully. We welcome couples of all backgrounds, including interracial couples, couples navigating cross-cultural dynamics, and same-sex couples. Taking this step together is already a meaningful act. We are ready to support you both.

Family Therapy

Family therapy for communication, conflict, parenting stress, intergenerational concerns, immigration-related family adjustment, and relational healing. When Family Relationships Feel Strained Families can be a powerful source of belonging, support, and identity. They can also become places of tension, misunderstanding, silence, or emotional pain. Family therapy offers a structured and supportive space to address difficult patterns, strengthen communication, and rebuild trust. At GodlyCounsel, family therapy is offered with cultural humility, clinical care, and respect for each family's values, faith, history, and experience.

elements 70 psychology mental health line icons MYM9N9G 2What We Support:

We support families navigating parent-child communication difficulties, intergenerational conflict, immigration-related family adjustment, parenting stress, co-parenting challenges, conflict between siblings or extended family members, family grief and loss, blended family adjustment, boundary concerns, faith, cultural, or value-based family tensions, and family support around mental health challenges.

elements 70 psychology mental health line icons MYM9N9G 2Our Approach:

Our work with families focuses on improving understanding, reducing blame, and helping each person feel heard. We support families in identifying patterns that keep conflict going and developing healthier ways to communicate, repair, and move forward. Family therapy is not about choosing sides. It is about helping the family system function with more compassion, clarity, and respect. Reach out to discuss whether family therapy is the right support for your situation.

Racial Trauma and Anti-Racism Support

Therapy for racial stress, race-based trauma, and the mental health impact of systemic and interpersonal racism. Your Experiences Are Real and They Have Weight Racism is not only a social issue. It is a public health crisis and a source of significant psychological harm. Whether you have experienced overt racial discrimination, microaggressions in professional or social settings, or the cumulative toll of living and working in systems that were not designed with you in mind, your mental health has been affected. At GodlyCounsel, we do not require you to justify or prove your experiences. We begin from a place of belief, affirmation, and deep respect for what you have navigated.

elements 70 psychology mental health line icons MYM9N9G 2What We Support:

We support clients experiencing race-based traumatic stress, PTSD, racial battle fatigue, microaggressions and their cumulative emotional impact, internalized racism, burnout from navigating racist systems and environments, racial identity development and affirmation, grief related to racial violence and collective trauma, anxiety and hypervigilance rooted in racial stress, the pressures of navigating predominantly white spaces, and the work of supporting children or families processing racial experiences.

elements 70 psychology mental health line icons MYM9N9G 2Benefits:

We integrate anti-racist practice, liberatory frameworks, and culturally affirming care. Our work is not race-neutral. It is race-conscious and deliberately so, because your healing requires an honest acknowledgment of what you have faced. You deserve to be understood, validated, and supported. We are here.

Immigrant and Cross-Cultural Mental Health Therapy

Therapy for acculturation stress, cultural identity, and immigration-related mental health concerns. Navigating Two Worlds Immigration is often described as a new beginning. What is less often acknowledged is what it costs. The loss of community, the pressure to adapt, the gap between who you are and who you are expected to become in a new context; these are real and significant stressors that can affect your mental health in profound ways. You may be managing grief for the life and relationships you left behind, navigating systems that feel unfamiliar and unwelcoming, or quietly wondering where you belong. GodlyCounsel offers a space where your whole story, including everything that came before, is honoured.

elements 70 psychology mental health line icons MYM9N9G 2What We Support:

We support acculturation stress, adjustment to life in Canada, cultural identity conflicts, questions of belonging, family expectations, intergenerational tension, grief and loss connected to migration, isolation, language barriers and their mental health impact, discrimination, exclusion, race-based stress in settlement contexts, parenting in a new cultural context, settlement-related anxiety and depression, relationship strain related to immigration stress, and immigration-related trauma.

elements 70 psychology mental health line icons MYM9N9G 2Our Approach:

Our therapists understand the immigration experience, not only clinically but personally and culturally. We provide care that is genuinely cross-cultural, non-judgmental, and deeply respectful of your background, values, and faith. Your story matters. You deserve the care that understands it.
